Even the healthiest teeth can become stained over time. And even if you brush and floss regularly, genetics, age, and certain deeply-colored foods and beverages – like berries, coffee, tea, and red wine – can begin to affect your smile. Discolored teeth can cause you to become dissatisfied with your smile and even affect your confidence. Fortunately, Dr. Timothy Sluser offers teeth whitening at our Pittsburgh office. Both at-home and in-office treatments use a specialized whitening gel to chemically break down stains, helping you achieve a whiter, more brilliant smile. Professional bleaching is safe, affordable, and extremely effective. Dr. Sluser carefully tailors each procedure to meet your individual needs, and can help recommend the best whitening method for you. Contact Four Seasons Dental today to schedule a consultation.
In-office Bleaching with Philips Zoom!®
In-office Philips Zoom!® treatment can help patients achieve their cosmetic goals in just one 45-60 minute treatment. After carefully isolating your teeth to protect your gums, Dr. Sluser will apply a powerful hydrogen peroxide-based whitening gel. Next, he will shine a light on your teeth, which will activate the gel and eliminate deep-set stains and discoloration. This type of whitening is often used to complement an additional procedure. Patients often choose to whiten their teeth before a dental crown is placed, or after completing Invisalign® treatment.
Take-home Whitening Kits
Dr. Sluser also offers take-home teeth whitening kits that can help you brighten your teeth in one to two weeks. If you choose take-home whitening, the dentist will first make impressions of your teeth and send these models to an off-site laboratory. There, skilled technicians will create customized whitening trays that fit comfortably around your teeth, much like a mouth guard or Invisalign® aligners. During use, you will fill these trays with hydrogen peroxide-based whitening gel and wear them for a pre-determined amount of time daily until you have achieved your preferred level of whiteness. Dr. Sluser will advise you on how long to wear your trays, and you can choose to wear them either during the day or at night while you sleep.
Choosing Your Whitening Treatment
Because the results of both at-home and in-office treatment are comparable, the whitening method you choose will depend entirely on your lifestyle, personal preferences, and budget. At-home methods are typically more affordable, and may be a better choice for patients with especially sensitive teeth. However, if you want immediate results for a special occasion, or if you prefer to undergo treatment under the supervision of a dentist, Philips Zoom!® might be a better treatment option for you.
During your initial consultation, Dr. Sluser will explain each bleaching option in detail and help you choose which type is right for you. Once your treatment is complete, you can enjoy the benefits of a whiter, brighter, and more lustrous smile.
